Every year the Shaw Guild has a wonderful lineup of events and activities available for members. Here is a list of the events going on in 2017. More information on each event can be found in upcoming newsletters and eblasts.
REMINDER: Guild events are for members only. Badges are not transferable.
Scene Shop Visit
March 6 • Guild members are invited to view the set and scenery under construction for upcoming productions. The Shaw’s design and construction heads, often with the play’s director, discuss the set planning and construction process. This discussion illustrates the challenges faced in addressing often-conflicting dramatic and practical issues.
Presidents’ Luncheon and Show & Tell
April 10 • Members are invited to a fantastic lunch prepared by the Green Room at the Shaw Festival. After lunch enjoy a presentation by a senior Shaw staff member of the sets and costume designs for the season’s upcoming productions.
Guild Dress Rehearsal
May 2 • Each year, The Shaw invites Guild members to attend a dress rehearsal of a new production as guests of the Shaw Festival. For 2017, the dress rehearsal is Saint Joan.
June 10 • This annual fundraising garden tour showcases magnificent secret gardens in lovely old town Niagara-on-the-Lake. Meander through eight gardens and discover many varieties of lush plants, beautiful trees, and stunning perennials nestled around historic homes. For more information, see the Garden Tour page.
July 17 • Join your fellow Guild members for fun, food and refreshments on a summer evening on the Members’ Terrace. Watch for ticket information and be sure to register early as space is limited.
September 7 • Get a rare glimpse of repertory theatre in action as crews change the sets between the matinee and evening performances – a window of just a couple of hours.
Shaw vs Stratford Cricket Match
August / September • Each year, the Shaw Festival and Stratford Festival challenge each other to a cricket match – a true test of which festival is best! Guild members are encouraged to come and cheer on our wonderful team.
Prop/Costume Warehouse Tour
September • Join your fellow Guild members for a tour of the Shaw’s Props and Wardrobe Warehouse – one of the largest storage warehouses in Canada.
October 23 • Shaw senior management provide a sneak preview of the next season’s playbill.
