There are a number of ways in which you can participate to help the Shaw Guild achieve its objective:

Shaw Guild Activities

Members are needed to help with the planning and organizing of a series of Guild events that begin in March and end in October. Events range from a visit to the Scene Shop to learn more about what happens beyond the stage, to social events such as the Summer Celebration and Cricket Match. Volunteers are also needed at the events to assist with registration, decorations and bar service.

Garden Tour

The garden tour is the Guild’s principal fundraising event. Watch for upcoming announcements. In addition to the organizing committee, many volunteers will be needed to host in a garden on the day of the tour.

Gardening

Members help to maintain and enhance the gardens at the Shaw Festival Theatre on Tuesday mornings from 9 until noon.

Greeters

Greeters welcome patrons outside of the Festival Theatre for all matinees throughout the season. Greeting requires unassisted standing for 90 minutes and a willingness to talk to patrons about the amenities offered in the theatre.

Hosting

Hosts greet theatre patrons and scan tickets at the four theatre venues. Hosting requires unassisted standing for at least one hour. Each new Guild member will be invited to a mandatory orientation session if they wish to be added to the hosting roster.

For more information contact hosting@shawguild.ca, or review the Hosting Handbook in the members resources section.

Hosting Captain

Captains contact volunteers on the hosting roster to schedule hosting dates. Captains must have hosting experience, be familiar with Excel at the basic level and preferably have the 2003 (or newer) version of Excel. Hosting captains must be in place and trained by March of each year.
